SEATTLE SIGHTS

Welcoming the littlest hands to have the biggest fun!

Taking this trip to Seattle, although so long ago now, feels just as if I went yesterday! It was such an insanely cool experience to go to such wonderful places and to be honest, looking back through all the photos, made me so nostalgic that I just had to share my experiences with you all – just in case any of you decide to visit this lovely destination!

First of all, I thought I’d quickly just do a run-down of Seattle. We travelled to Seattle via bus from Vancouver and it was actually a really beautiful trip, all up around 5 hours including stops/border crossing etc. The border crossing took longer than I expected, I think because we were going with a bus load of people –go figure- we all had to pile off, unload, check through and then re-load etc. We didn’t expect to see much, but just seeing different scenery to what we are used to was really exciting! Nothing like a bit of sightseeing to get you excited for your next destination…

Difficulty: Easy!

Parties aside though, sometimes there is nothing better than sitting down after a long day (or a long morning for us mums!) and enjoying something totally decadent, filled with totally necessary calories and a cup of strong coffee. And, as you might be able to see, I couldn’t even wait for mine to set before I dived right in… I blame my dessert addiction...

We stayed right in the heart of Seattle, next to a major shopping centre and with a view all the way out to the bay – it was gorgeous! If you are ever visiting, make sure you get a room with a view to the water – the city span is so huge that it’s such a cool contrast to see sparkling blue in the distance!

Just walking down the streets at night is a fun experience – with so much happening and the city lights for miles, If you’re looking for a city escape, that’s exactly what you will get! Something to keep in mind is that, just like the rest of this pocket of the world, in winter it rains a lot, and having been caught out a few times with a little one I would highly recommend some good waterproofing!

Our time in Seattle saw us venture into the local pop culture museum which was an amazing break out of the drizzle and with Sway asleep in our arms we spent the best part of the afternoon wandering through casually. Next we went up the space needle tower to the observation deck – THE BEST way to see the city and surrounds. You cannot miss out on going up if you are looking to see Seattle from the highest point of view possible, it's stunning! The rest of the time sped by, and we spent our limited time travelling the monorail, heading out to nearby suburban shopping districts (a girls got to shop, right?) and of course devouring some of the most delicious food you could think of in beautifully Christmas themed diners and restaurants! We ate like kings this weekend (with the excess baggage to show for it – haha) scoffing down bacon and waffles, authentic Italian pizzas, and ice-cream (of course)!

If you are heading there anytime soon I’d love to hear what you’re getting up to on your trip! Oh and a couple of other places that are must see for your list are: Pike Place Market & Seattle Great Wheel at Seattle’s waterfront!

Our short but sweet trip to Seattle definitely quenched our weekend escape craving, and I most definitely stocked my bags full of American candy to tie me over until my next visit!

So, until next time, Seattle!
